Letter to Parents, Teachers, and Readers
Ichabod the Turkey is the star character in a series of stories introducing children to the adventures of a real turkey that lived in Nebraska. Full of adventure, humor, and magic, these stories will have children learning about the meaning of love, friendship, and family!
Each story is followed with a short curriculum to help parents and teachers support literacy.
Why is it important for children to read?
Literacy means being able to read and write. A child’s reading skills are important to their success in school and work. In addition, reading can be a fun and imaginative activity for children, which opens doors to all kinds of new worlds for them. Reading and writing are important ways we use language to communicate.
It is my hope that the tales of Ichabod will inspire a child’s imagination, develop word association skills, and nurture the desire to read throughout life.
